Praise & Prayer Report from the Canadian Director

I pray that you’ve had a great summer and are, perhaps, enjoying some last minute holidays before the busy autumn schedule begins.

Our summer at Chosen People Ministries has been very busy with great things continuing to take place, showing us that God is continuing to bless this ministry!  At the end of July, we held a commissioning service for Marcello Araujo to officially thrust him into his new assignment in Hamilton, ON.  As you may know, he has been holding Bible studies every other week, reaching out to Jews and Gentiles alike.  He will be concentrating his ministry efforts there and we hope to see a congregation born in the near future.

In July, I had a very positive visit with the leadership of a Messianic congregation in Vancouver.  The Lord is strongly leading us to place a missionary couple who can reach out to the almost 30,000 Jews living in the Vancouver area.  At the same time, this congregation is seeking a leader for the future and they want Chosen People Ministries to work with them in securing one.  I see a great opportunity for us to partner with this congregation while we also seek ways of expanding our ministry to the Jewish community.  Please pray that the Lord will guide us in every detail and that He will provide the right leader for this work.

I am happy to report that our works in Toronto and Winnipeg are developing strongly.  Kehillat Eytz Chaim / Tree of Life Congregation in Toronto has moved to a new location within a much stronger Jewish neighbourhood.  Ben Volman and the congregation foresee great potential for growth there.  Kehillat Haverim Mashiach / Friends of Messiah Congregation in Winnipeg also moved and, in their downtown location, have seen attendance pick up significantly.  Michael Wodlinger continues to lead that work and is starting a second outreach south of Winnipeg.

I have just returned from a two-week trip to England to take part in Chosen People Global Ministries’ meetings.  It was a blessing to meet all our National Directors from around the world (in photo – with the Hirschs from Australia) and to hear the wonderful things God is doing among His people in each country.  When the director for each country finished

his report, we all joined in a special and very moving time of prayer for the work there.  Of course, I also reported on the work here in Canada and was touched by the prayers offered for our blessing and success.

Back on the home front and as far as our finances are concerned, I am happy to tell you that the Lord has been faithfully providing for our every need, in spite of the events that took place earlier in the summer.  The Canada Post strike slowed down the pace of our supporters’ giving – which had already slowed down because of summer vacations and travel.  This has been compounded by the fact that Canada’s economy, although still strong, continues to affect the cost of services and goods we need to keep our ministry going forward.

We began our new fiscal year in July with an approved budget that is both realistic and challenging.  Our emphasis has been on keeping costs down so that we can invest more of our resources in people and ministry.  Our staff is planning new projects, events and activities for the year both in our Toronto and Winnipeg branches, as well as a new outreach in Hamilton and to establish the new position in Vancouver I mentioned above.  We also want to expand some of the things we did this year, such as the “Messianic Moments” TV program that was so suc cessful during Passover.  There is also a possibility of adding a ministry on radio.

So, as you can see, the Lord is putting a world of opportunities for ministry before us.  We don’t want to miss them simply because the finances are not there.

Will you consider prayerfully going the extra mile and making a special gift to Chosen People Ministries today to help us start the new fiscal year strong?  Your extra gift will help us make up losses from the summer and allow us to go ahead with ministry plans to reach the Jewish community in Canada – estimated to be 350,000 – with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our beloved Messiah.

Remember that most of those 350,000 Jewish people have never clearly heard the Good News. A very small percentage – between 0.5 and 1.0% -- claim to know Yeshua as their personal Messiah!

As I said before, our present, essential needs are being met, but we really want to move to the next level of ministry by expanding and building upon what has been done in the past.  Will you help us reach that next level?

We provide several donation options to fit your needs.  Lately, many of our donors are choosing to give securely online, saving both time and money since there is no postage involved.  Of course, this also benefits us since the gift is received in our office almost immediately.  Whatever way you choose to give and whatever amount the Lord leads you to give, will be very welcomed and appreciated by all of us here.

Thank you for giving serious and prayerful consideration to this request.  We value your partnership with Chosen People Ministries.

In Yeshua’s love,
